I have no experience with discus but I know the neons will really like the tank!

The tank is large and open. Lots of swimming space but when he adds in plants they will habe many areas to feel secure

Thinking about discus and neon tetra

I've read that cardinal tetra are a better match with discus due to temperature range.
They may be healthier than neons too, I failed to keep even a small group of neons as a new virus infected any new neons that were added.

thats a good sugguestion. i actually like the cardinal tetras look better. a bit larger and more colorful.

Cardinals enjoy warmer water than neon's so therefore are better with Discus. The Cardinals are also a lot more robust than the Neon Tetra
