Aussie's 187 Gal Planted Tank

Globe still isnt here,so i rang and they said they have sent it maybe a hold up so hopefully anyday. While the over filter is out the tank has started to cloudy up a bit but wont take long to be clear again and it wouldnt be as bad if i didnt clean all the left over algae on the glass. I left one patch for my new peppermints im getting on friday, cant wait :D

The SMS122 controller is finally up and running and its greta, dont even have to do a thing :p . I have had to set the pH on 7.25 casue in my other tank my older male (about 10cm) was picking on the new young female (about 5cm) i got about 3 months ago and her boyfriend about the same size of his female mate, was trying to help out so i moved them into the planted tank until my dad upgrades from a 75 to a 180, just has to wait for some extra money to come in he reckons. So they are in the 187 and loving it, dont think they wanna leave but i got some bad news.

The Zosterfolia has been flowering about 150 flowers in total from the two batches of it in the tank, here is a picture

I also went to the LFS on the thursday after soccer training and i was in there in at the right time. THey just got over 200 pieces of driftwood in, Lovin it. So i was there for about 2 hours finding the right pieces for my tank. With 12 bits and $200 later i walk out and it is now soaking in my bath tub.( dont worry it hasnt been used for about 8 years now and i cleaned it fully before i put it inbut, should i replace the water weekly that it is soaking in or i have another canister spare should i hook that up?

here it is, this was day one. the isnt much tan in the water atm and its been 4 days and there isnt much but im going to at least leave it for a month

I have been scrubbing the wood to try and get as much dirt and crap i can off that i can. I also got some peppermint bristlenose about 1.5 - 2 inches long. AS well as them i found some weird bug thing that is swimming around in the tank, so i caught it and put it into my net to see if anyone knows what it is, here is one picture of it

'Using a sump reduces the effect of the co2'

I disagree with this as i have done alot of research on this matter

While with a trickle filter you get far too much gas exchange, you can use a sump to great effect if done correctly by not creating bubbles and using glass covers to trap any CO2 that may escape (a bit like a nitragon blacket in a tank in a pure water system)

I do agree that sumps can use more CO2 but again done correctly this can be minimal

well i had a sump on one of my 75 before i sold it to afford this one and it went through co2 quicker then water, i had it pretty much fully sealed sump, yea but it cost better with a close system

:kewlpics: like the tank Aussie_star it's coming on great since the 1st pic. :kewlpics:

That bug looks like some sort of damsal or mayfly nypth.

have you colecting wild plants for your tank?

thanxs paul, yea cant wait for it aye.
Simon, ino only plants i have got are from the LFS, is the dangerous to my fish or plnats at all? i have it in the net so it cant really do much at the moment, but what should i do

well the wood is in, but the tank is still at mess and i havent been able to clean it up, so i doing that now and will take a picture tomorrow to post it. Looks pretty good but better when the plants grow. I did some chopping aswell and found more of the bug things
