what size tank did u spawn the adults in :D
The parents are currently in a 29gl tank with another ngara female, and a smaller(not ready to breed yet) red shoulder trio. The ngara trio are moving into ther own 30gl long in the next few days(had to finish my diy cave system). The babies are in a 15gl tank that we removed the female to when it was time.

the fry kinda look like convict fry...

I also think they look like convicts....do you have ne paired convicts in that tank?

There is absoulutely no way they are convicts. The similarities come from the striping pattern and both being cichlids.

Thanks for all the well wishes!! They are doing great so far gobbling bbs like crazy 3x a day!

AAAAAHHHHHHHHH  ! disaster has struck! Was gone for several hours today, Hubby got home 1st to find dead mama fish and several dead and dying babies :-( :-( :-( . All h2o checks out fine so we think based on symptoms of shock that the new filter/ heater by proquatics malfunctioned. Just a couple hours earlier she was eating and swimming fine with no signs of any problems. This is so disappointing. I have been trying to keep from bawling in front of my 4 yr old all evening since she is really involved in the whole affair. The remaining 20 or so fry have been moved to a breeding net in the spawn tank.
