Just before I order some assassin snails, are there any compatibility issues with swordtails, corys, cardinals or betta, and do I need to take into account their bioload regarding stocking or is it small enough to be negligible? I have a 55 litre tank and was thinking of getting 5 of them.

Thanks,

Mark

I heard that they are sensitive to acidic water (their shells melt if the water isn't neutral or alkaline). Is that true, cuz I'd love to get some for my tank to rid it once and for all from those pesky snails that hitched a ride on my plants--they DEFINITELY multiply faster than rabbits! My tank pH ranges from 6.6-6.8.

Sorry to interrupt but...

Could someone spare a moment to tell me about Assassin Snails.

I don't get why people deal with a snail problem with more snails. Do they sing and dance or something?

I'd like to deal with my snails but don't understand how more snails does that.

Thank you.

well from my expereince they dont do much i think my two killed maybe three snails thats it but there cool in there own little way :) how i got rid of my snail problem involve killing every single one i ever saw eventually after around 4 weeks there werent any left oh and reduce feeding. I wouldnt be concerned of bioload its tiny.

lol :)

The point is that assassin snails eat other snails, reducing their numbers, but they breed much more slowly than the pest snails do, so you're not swapping one pest for another.

Fluttermoth is right!

Assasins will also eat left over fish food, and are quite nice looking too.

They are much easier to control in a tank, and so I keep a couple in every one I set up.

I really like my assassin's snails. I call them Ezio and Altair (any other Assassin's creed fans about? nope?) They're great little snails, really pretty and they can be very active. They're great at cleaning smaller tanks - even if they do produce a bit of waste - I'm definitely a fan. I've never had any compatibility issues with them whatsoever :good:
