I have a snail problem and to get rid of them used assassian snails. This helped a lot. But now i have noticed i want them back due to the large amount of algae coming back on my plants. I removed all the assassin snails but do i need to worry about them laying egg sacks in the tank anywhere? Are they know for breeding like the normal snail does? -Thanks so much in advance

No they breed very slowly and you do need a male and female, you won't get over run with them like the pest snails they eat.

The new babies burrow into the substrate where they gain size for a while safe from danger. You may or may not have more in your tank as a result.

I've got three assassins in my tank - have had them a couple of weeks to help deal with the snails... I've seen four eggs that I believe are theirs in my tank - two on plants, two on the corners of the tank. Have left the eggs for now, as I will rehome any surplus snails when they're older to anyone wanting them. I'm in the process of setting up a second tank, and once that's up and running I plan to move the assassins between the two tanks, so I can monitor and control their snail-destruction tendancies by swapping snails between tanks. Well, that's the plan. Being a newbie I have no idea if it'll work (or even if the eggs I can see are definitely Assassin eggs!), but time will tell!
