Agreed, it goes all the way to the bottom. 
 
The shelves can also come out, including the central one.  My central cupboard also has a hole at the top, like a figure eight (I would have put it at the bottom) where the cabling comes through for the electrics, although I may in future fasten the power board to the inside of one of the cupboards, just tended to prefer to keep electrics separate from water, just in case of any leakage.  Not sure if this figure eight has been modified from a single hole or put there by the original owner

Just one last question if I may be so demanding, how wide is the gap at the rear of the cupboard?
 
I don't mind buting new but tbh, the second hand ones are so cheap it would be foolish to pass one up!!!!

You're after exactly what I have.

My tape measure is in the car but if you can bear with me until tomorrow evening I will measure it all up and let you know, looking at it, the door sits into the space and the gap at the rear is not as wide as the cupboard.

How do you want measurements? Metric or imperial?
