Around How Mutch Are These Catfish Worth$ ?

just did a quick search for prices on peppermint plec in brisbane, and it looks like $20- $40 for them down here as well.

If they were being sold in a pet shop it all depends on how much the shop keeper knows about catfish and if they are honest or not. Anyone who knows catfish will know at a glance that these are a hybrid species and would probably mark them up as Syndontis multipunctatus X sp? Someone less informed could mark them up as true multipuntatus or even just as Syndontis catfish without knowing the difference and a dishonest dealer would just try and sell them as true mulitpunctatus as they are worth more.

okay, if you had this catfish what would u sell it as and how mutch for?

If i had that fish i wouldnt sell it at all, i'd stick it in a small tank on the lowest shelf in a dark corner of the fishroom and hope no one see's it.

have you contacted the dealer to see if you can get your money back?

is it illegal???
if so, i would put it somewhere nobody would ever see it.

I'm pretty sure that CFC meant it to be embarassing to have a hybrid and he would hide it from anyone viewing his fish.

i was in contact with my local fish dealer, and he denied everything, though from the help of you guys i was able to tell him i know for a fact that they are not what he said they were, anyway i got very angry with him and said i want my money back! he isnt willing to buy them back of me though he will swap fish for them instead,

he hasnt got any fish i want rite now,

he has offer`d me:

3 nimbochromis polystigma 1male/2 female at 7cm

3 nimbochromis fuscotaeniatus 1male/2 female at 7cm

that is a rip of isnt it?

i dont think that is worth $200 australia dollars?

grrr

i am waiting to see what else he gets in stock and i will be getting the best deal i can.

I'd get hold of the local trading standards officer and let him know what has gone on.

he is niot a registered fish shop!

i sorted it out, i got alot of breeding cichlids for the catfish, 27 in total, all different species and breeding groups, im happy now

i don't think i am speaking out of line, to suggest you try and warn others in your area about this seller!

i hope you have better luck with these new fish. this is a fantastic hobby, but as with all things, there are lots of unscrupulous people involved. take as much care over where you buy your fish, as you would choosing the fish you want!
again all the best, keep us up to date with your crew :good:

Petsmart's in Canada sell em for $5.19 each and they're all about 2-3".
