I am a TFF madman, meaning. The definition of a TFF madman is one whose life is messed up in a good way because of fish. One could be hoarding things, or more. If any of you are like me and say yes to more than 3 of them, you are a proper TFF madman.

If you:

1. Stop on the side of the road for a piece of driftwood then you are a TFF madman

2. Have so many aquariums that your house sounds like Niagra Falls then you are a TFF madman

3. If you hoard PVC pipe or connecters, acrylic/glass pieces, old filter parts, old heaters, broken lids, etc, then you are a TFF madman (any which counts)

4. If you name your plants then you are a TFF madman

5. If you name your equipment then you are a TFF madman (I named my filter phil)

6. If you can recite from memory any aquarium book or phrase, then you are a TFF madman

7. If you have ever dream about new fish or fish tanks, then you are a TFF madman

8. If you have 5 or more tanks then you are a TFF madman

9. If you are broke thanks to fish then you are a TFF madman

10. If 1 or more of your aquarium supplies were bought from Home Depot, Tractor Supply co, or Lowes, or are labeled Rubbermaid, Sterilite, or Countyline, then you are a TFF madman

If you answered yes to 3 or more, then you are a TFF madman. If not, then you are a practical fishkeeper :)

Not so sure those questions make you a TFF madman, perhaps a little crazy but not TFF crazy.

From the title I thought it was going to be are you a TFF madman?
And my response was going to be "look at the number of posts I have done and how long I have been here for. Of course I'm a TFF nutter"

But some of the questions in post #1 make me think you should talk to a psychiatrist more than I need to. And I am really messed up :crazy::crazy:

I'm just a generalized fish nut. I post here too much, I've worked in the aquarium trade, I read about fish to relax and I've had 50 plus tanks for 30 plus years. I'm old enough that I no longer feel any need to justify my sense that this is fun. I've seen people spend their time, money and lives on things I consider pretty foolish, so it's no use measuring my own weirdness against theirs. Everyone's weird.
So, here are some more from someone with an advanced, longterm chronic case of fish nerdity:
1. Have you ever struggled through a scientific paper/online pdf because you wanted more info on a fish?
2. Have you traced where your fish come from on Google Earth?
3. Have you ever decided to make a tank that was based on one habitat, with plants and fish from one place?
4. Have you ever gone fishing for fish to put in your aquarium?
5. Have you identified the local ponds that have daphnia and other live foods in them?
6. Have you attended a physical aquarium club or national convention, to meet other engaged hobbyists and find uncommon fish species?
7. Do you look at a fish and immediately wonder why? So do you check out info on its natural history and habitat, and try to understand why it looks like it looks and does what it does?
8. Do you daydream about designing tanks for fish from extreme habitats, and then try to make it happen?
9. Do you breed the fish you buy for several generations, so you can understand more about them?
10. Do you enjoy it when someone here posts an idea connected to aquariums that you have never considered, and that while it makes sense, goes against how you like to do things?

If you score 6 or higher, we need to talk.

please, 217 messages in 10 years, you haven't posted much at all. I have been here 3 yrs longer than you and I am over 30,000 posts. And I did score over 6 on your questions so we better talk :)

You start rowing, I'll start rowing, and somewhere between Australia and Canada we can meet up for a cold drink and some fish talk (probably about the sharks circling us, but hey).

For 9 years and 11 months of those 10 years, I didn't check the forum. You only lured me back with 'tank of the year' e-mail messages in December, when I figured I might as well click the link and see if that forum I'd joined years before was still kicking.
