First off I'm afraid there is no picture as I have lent my camera to a colleague.

Whilst playing with my nano tank I saw a mass of what appear to be tentacles coming out of the sand. They all radiate from a central point are hair like, not at all fleshy and the longest bits are about 3 inches long. When I disturbed the sand around it, it all clumped up and I thought it was just a weird formation of algae, but it's a pulsing moving mass with tentacle like things sticking out all over. Its like a living hairball. Any ideas?

Think I may have stumbled across the answer myself, think it may be a Cirratulids worm, now to find out if they are evil or not.

Ok think I have an answer seems to be a Cirratulids worm, found a picture that looks similar. Looks like they're good guys too

Stumbled across what they are I think, seems they are Cirratulidae worms. Seems they are good guys too.

Well I hadn't had any luck finding it, then after posting decided to have another search and it suddenly popped up. So when I reposted it looked like I was losing the plot and posting and answering in one hit, and because I couldn't see it appearing I repeated myself, twice and now I look like a proper mental case. Sorry consign post to general board clutter.

Your worse than me HG! Lol

So what is it again exactly!............in English!

How about a pic!

Found these on the net, exactly what I have in my tank. This is what I saw on the surface of the sand.

This is what I could see under the sand but the tentacles were much longer and weirder looking.
