Are Blueberry Oscars Natural?

I 'm trying to find out if these kinds of oscars are naturally blue or just dye colored reds.

They are dyed, I urge you not to buy them (if you were thinking about it), as its a painful process for the fish that results in alot of deaths.

well I'm not going to buy one anyway coz of the price tag, plus I was wondering. That is why I hardly see them that much. I wish I can post my notes in petland or other stores to help educate ppl better on the choices they make when buying fish. Alot of these stores out to make money and really don't care about the well being of these fish.

Sorry to bring this up, but your profile said you had a pacu, oscar and channel cats in a 20 gallon tank. They may be under 5" now, but you will have to rehome them.

well you can scratch off the oscar. I have a 55 on standby when these guys reach pass 9 inches.

A 55 gallon will not be big enough, Peacock bass are big fish, and pacus even bigger. I'm just telling you this so you know how big the fish can get, and hopefully find them a suitable home.

Well either way I never keep big fish for long. I sell them to my local pet store owned by a friend. I get payed even get other fish for what I rasie, but enough about that back on subject.

Yes, blueberries are dyed and yes, it is a horrible thing that pet suppliers do but it's only because people who are uneducated keep buying them.

The blueberry JD you refered too... most likely a Electric Blue JD. These are JD's that have two recessive genes and is a naturally occuring trait so not in the same category as blueberry o's.

The Pacu is a beast. it should not be sold to people unless the store is planing on going to a persons house and making sure that they have a tank in the range of hundreds of gallons.

You shouldn't really get in the habit of buying fish that will grow big and plan on selling them after a few months when they grow. That has the possibility of stunting the fish and causing them extra stress from getting bought and brought home by you, growing in a small space, being moved back to the lfs where again, it will live in a relativily small space for what they need and the possibility of not being purchased again as when they are larger, people seem to realize they can't handle the fish so it may end up being euthanized if the lfs cannot find a permanent home for it... So it's better to just not buy the fish so that the lfs will stop ordering them except for special orders for the serious fish keepers who understand the space requirements for these fish.
