Just picked up a really nasty Trojan from that site. Don't go there.

cheers for the heads up :) anyone else get this problem?

I've been using the website all day and haven't had any trouble.

Just visited now (even though you said not to) and nothing has popped up too :)

I also have up to date anti-virus... should be fine unless something pops up to be downloaded

It bypassed my AVG and installed some malware called AVAsoft and a load of other garbage. Real pain to get rid of it all.

Ah right, I hope they sort it soon because it's a decent site when there happens to be someone near :)

Cheers for the warning

Do you use the free AVG or the premium version? Because I use the free version but if you use the free to, than maybe the free doesn't cover something that the premium does? Anyway, I'm not going to use it until this gets cleared, I've found Trojans to be a decent pain to clean up.

I picked up a similar Trojan last week. I was using this site but tbh I thought it could have come from anywhere, was a proper nasty one and it took ages to get rid, avg wouldn't touch it so had to do it manually.

I was using free AVG, I upgraded to premium now lol
Had to download three or four different antivirus programs to get rid of all the rubbish and I'm still paranoid there's something lurking they might have missed.

To be fair, I can't be 100% certain it came from Aquarist Classifieds - maybe I picked it up somewhere else and it waited to activate just as I happened to load the Aquarist Classifieds page, I don't know if that's how these things work

Well I've been browsing it quite often and nothing has popped up with my AVG (full version)

edit: even after taking your advice... woops!

I usually go on the AC site and often have done at work with no issues. The general AV/Spam/Malware protection here is pretty tough and almost always verges on the side of caution but I've yet to see anything wrong with it.

For google Chrome and Firefox I would suggest you get the abblocker plus extension.  its free and Very good at blocking crap from sites.

I never actually thought that this might have stopped it!

+1 on this though, I've had it installed for AGES. It even manages to stop the ads that aren't pop-ups :)

Well it was definitely Aquarists Classified - it just hit me again!

AVG was totally useless even after upgrading it.

Hubby is not happy with me, it took him ages to get rid of the last one :(

It's good to have more than one antivirus program on hand for things like this so that it doesn't get out of hand and stop you from installing them later, since, unfortunately, none of these programs are perfect by themselves. I like to have one running as a background monitor (like AVG or Avast; used both, but I've actually had better luck with Avast for catching things on-the-fly) and then have another thing or two on hand for maintenance and also emergency scans (like Malwarebytes - really good but scans take ages, and I also use Spybot for quick stuff).

AVG will pick up false malware etc as it's a budget run anti virus.

I recommend anything but AVG, You can find the top listed anti virus on many sites.

I always have my anti virus off unless I wan't to scan just to double check which it rarely comes back with anything, I do however use one of the best malware software that will nuke anything that moves. As Donya said, Malwarebytes is highly recommended!
