I bought an aquaone recently.....
(AquaMode600)
Looks nice but feels cheap and tacky.
Are AquaOne products any good? Especially the filter which just doesn't seem that robust, although its effective so far?

I've got 2 aquaone tanks and love them, the rounded glass corners are a really nice feature and I've always found the stands are very sturdy. Mind you I wasn't too fussy on the built in hood filters, though most people say they do the job ok. I had my hubby cut them out and use a interior filter instead.

Could he do mine as well?
Might look for a new filter soon, any recommendations?

lol! you wouldn't say that if you heard all the swearing while he was doing it!!
I use a fluval filter but at the moment its gone noisy so I'm going to be looking round myself for a different one now.

I have an AquaOne 620 tank & although the internal tray filter worked okay - I decided to upgrade it to an external canister type. I went for the AquaOne CF1000 (cost £78) It offers twice the capacity of filtration I need for my tank (ie I allowed for a bigger tank in the future) & it's very easy to clean (about every 3 months) & I have to either look for water movement/flow from the output pipe or put my hand on the pump to see if it's actually running, it's so quiet.

Yes you do have to do a bit of drilling/cutting on the back of the tray to fit the pipes through, but it isn't difficult.

I would personally recommend these tanks.

Hey, any of you Aquaone owners got an 850? :hyper: I am after 2 used or unwanted carbon trays (see under buy, sale or swap forum) for an experiment....has to be the 850

the carbon trays were taken of production, yet they still provide them with the bloody tanks. Just get some filer bags and fill it with carbon and then wack some filter wool in there somewhere too. pain i know

Hello,

Any aquaone owners got a corner tank, either the UFO 880 or Windsor 88?

These caught my eye, more so the UFO 880 due to the wet/dry trickle filter.

Any experiences good or bad?

Many Thanks

D.

Hiya all, i have got a aqua one 380 tank 34 litres. I like the filter, i have added my own sponges and media in and it works fine.

Hi

What did you put in as a sponge? I have the 380 as well and I've stuck in some Eheim Substrate Pro instead of the ceramic cylinders and I've replaced the top white pad with filter wool but I'm still not happy with their black sponge pads as, in my opinion, they let too much stuff through.

I use fine wool>quarter inch fine foam>ceramic noodles>one inch of coarse foam..stats are near perfect (Amm 0. Nitrite 0. nitrate 40.)
I now am going to get the carbon filter trays, rip everything out of them then pack them with first stage wool. the idea being that the fine slots in the trays slow up the flow to allow water to use the whole of the surface of the mechanical filter. :good:
