hey all, i have an aquaclear 70 on my 30 gallon tank currently and i was thinking.

the carbon only works for a few days anyways, and the current is a bit stronger then i would like.

can you remove the carbon and add in another filter sponge?

would this cause any problems or should it work alright? thanks.

I have done this in my filter with no problems. The only reason I would replace the carbon would be if I had meds in the tank to get rid of. I bought some generic filter stuff off eBay for £4, cut it to size and have not noticed any difference.

thanks for the feeback i think ill give it a shot.

wondering about how i should layer it like

top of filer

ceramic things
old filter
new filter

bottom of filter

or if i should put the ceramics in the middle

It won't slow it down any. The only way to slow it down is to adjust it at the pump.
