I would like to take this opportunity to tell you to love your pets now and take lots of pictures. Don't wait. Don't put it off until tomorrow, because there may not be a tomorrow. Give your dogs lots of hugs and take them for lots of walks. Play fetch with them, cuddle with them, and enjoy your dog while you still can.

My dog Bandit was hit by a reckless driver last Friday. He died almost instantly; the last thing he did before he passed was wag his tail. He was just over a year old. He had a lot of love in his life, and my mom and I both adored that dog. He was loved by everyone who met him, because of his cheerful attitude and natural doggy charisma.

I'll miss taking him on long walks in the woods, I'll miss the way he used to share my breakfast with me, and I'll miss the way he used to growl when I picked him up. I'll miss his happiness, I'll miss his "serious face," and I'll miss the way I used to wake up in the middle of the night to find Bandit laying right next to me.

There's an empty dog bed next to my computer, and an empty space in my heart.

Rest in peace, Bandit.

So many sympathies. I remember when I lost my dog...we'd had her for 11 1/2 years, and she died suddenly of a horrible blood disorder. It's never easy to lose them.

Are you planning to get another one soon? Some people say you shouldn't...that you can't bond properly with the dog. I think that's a load of crap. We got a dog the next day, and he helped a lot.

I am so sorry for the loss of your pet :( He looked so pretty.
I don't know what it's like to loose a pet yet but I know I'll have to go through it someday. I guess we all wish it would be later and not soon. :-(

:rip: Bandit

Oh wow did that bring tears to my eyes :-(. What a heartfelt message, and very true. I've been thinking the same thing recently because my closest friend lost her dog fairly suddenly on Memorial Day. She had been sick, she had a tumor in her stomach, but she was doing better on antibiotics and was improving every day, then suddenly she got violently ill and within hours was gone (they think the tumor may have burst). It was very devastating, and I can't stop thinking how horrible it would be for me to lose one of mine suddenly like that. I have gone through losing two dogs, and it was gutwrenching both times even though they were 12 and 13 and in declining health.

You have my deepest sympathies in the loss of your beautiful little boy Bandit. I'm so very sorry :-(.

You might take comfort from this RB flash movie if you haven't seen it before:

I'm so sorry for your loss.

And I will take your advice. My dog is the pic in sig.

So sorry for your loss :byebye: :rip:
I lost my one cat to a car accident only a couple of months ago, so understand very well the loss you are feeling.

Ps: on a lighter note: everyone has an accent ;)

I've never lost a pet like this before. I've lost cats, and I've had to sell two of my beautiful horses, but Bandit was my best friend and he died such a tragic end. I'm going to get another dog in September, they're going to be born in about a month. I need this new dog, and I think my other dog Beau needs a friend too.

I remember the night before he died. It was about 9 in the evening, the sun had gone down but it was still light out. There were bats in the dusky pink sky, and my sister and I were walking down the road to go find my mom. When Bandit saw us, we called his name and he came running as fast as he could right to us. I remember the look on his face when he was running to greet us - he was so happy. His ears were back and flying around in the wind, and his mouth was open as if he was smiling - no, he was smiling. That night was so beautiful.

That week, we were up at my aunt's farm. Bandit was playing with the other dogs there, and he was having time of his life with all of the dogs and people there. After he died, my aunt told me that Bandit was already so close to Heaven, being up at the farm. Hearing that gave me some relief. I don't think Bandit is in another place - I think his spirit is still right here with my mom and me. I bet he goes with us on our walks through the woods and some day I'll see him again on the other side.

That is such a lovely post it brought a huge lump to my throat. I feel your pain and understand you loss. I too believe that dogs smile. I know mine did :)
Bandit sound as though he had a fantastic life and he was very lucky to have you to look after him while he was here on earth.

Oh my god that is so sad, I am really sorry to hear about your loss. My mum and her partner recently lost their rotweiller to bone cancer which they didn't know he had until my mums partner took him to the vet three weeks ago for his anual check up, he had hurt his foot so David asked the vet to look at that too, the vet did some tests and discovered that Aaron had bone cancer and it was spreading fast. David agreed to have Aaron put out of his suffering.
I really feel for you at this sad time, my thoughts are with you.

Haiku - first time i have seen that rainbow bridge thing but by god did it make me cry, I will have a few animals that will be waiting for me and more to come eventually as I have loads of animals at the moment.

:rip: sorry for your lost thats so tragic and sad, :byebye:
