Apple Snail In With Large 5 Y/o Goldfish

yep is true, they close up in their shell and hide away in the mud swamp until rain floods again. When i did a gravel vac a few of my snails got stuck in the vac as i was finishing off i didt notice. Picked up the gravel vac a week later and there they were thought they were dead, put them in a cup of tank water for an hour then back into the tank....they were 3 of my biggest.

I have one breeder mystery snail that manages to find his/her way out of the tank at least once a month usually find it on the stand next to its tank and put it back in and its good til next month none of the others never really thought about it just put it down to a personality quirk of the snail but after reading this thread I'm wondering if its just a nature thing for the snail

I have apple snails in with 4 fancy goldfish in an unheated 240 litre tank. The room is warm and so far the temp hasnt gone below 20 degrees C. The goldfish mostly leave the apple snails alone, sometimes if an apple snail is near a piece of food a goldfish will mouth it but then the apple snail retracts so quickly no harm is done. The apple snails arent doing a brilliant job on the algae, but do attempt to eat it. I am trying a zebra nerite snail on the algae too. I might add a spare heater and set it to the minimum temperature if we get any really cold weather.
