Aponogeton ulvaceus makes up the background of my 180l and it grows very well under my low-tech conditions. It is a strange grower in that it will grow very vigorously for a while, putting out many new leaves, and then will have a rest period where hardly any growth seems to take place. During this dormant period, I find mine tend to lose a few leaves each. This is apparently normal of the plant and is observed in all setups independent of variations of lighting, co2 etc.
I also find that during their growth times, they readily put out flowers which emerge from the water.
Overall, a very nice plant to keep and easy to grow IME.
