I had a gastric emptying study done today and they told me that there would be no side effects and the most prevalent google searches also said that. I am so sick. I feel a hundred times worse than when i went in. After more in depth research there are some side effects. This is a long shot but has anyone else had this test done and what was your experience?

Actually ya. I had to have one a year ago because my Tourettes was so bad back then I had tic attacks and my stomach muscles would force to throw up even if I hadn’t eaten anything(it was so freaky and sickening) anyway after my gastric thingy I felt really sick for like a week after it and then it just went away. Like over night although for a month I had on and off problems. Doctors said it was related to my Tourettes but I saw this and was like “I’m not alone :0 “ I feel like hospitals/tests/procedures always suck at least somewhat in their own way.

They cooked the technetium-99m into scrambled eggs, had me eat it and every hour scanned me with the gamma detector

Man, this sounds horrible! Im so sorry! I dont know what else to say except for sorry... I feel so helpless, usually there is always a way for me to help a friend... but this sickens my stomach knowing I cant.
Get well soon please!

Its all good! Not looking for sympathy, just want to know if what im experiencing is normal since my doctors arent any help

I know your not but I know that people like to know that others care...

Sadly I cant help you much in the aspect of the test, sorry.

I haven't, but I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this and feeling so terrible! Sending you positive thoughts from across the pond, really hope you feel better soon!

no more gamma rays please, they aren't good for you
they don't even like giving people under 60 gamma rays for any tests in Australia.

Please JuiceBox, no more x-rays, gamma rays or any other bad tests. they aren't helping you at all

look what happened to Bruce Banner when he got a load of gamma rays

Can't say that I've ever had a gastric emptying study by condolences go out to any that have going by the apparent side affects. :(

I have found myself not really trusting doctors/medical facilities. Here are two examples of why...
1) When I lost the use of my right eye due to an injury while in the military they never detected that the injury had caused trauma induced glaucoma (high internal pressure within the eye). With today's procedures my sight in the eye could be restored except for the fact that that the glaucoma destroyed the optic nerve for that eye and there is nothing to correct this.
2) When I lived in Florida a good friend died of intestinal cancer; His doctor treated for ulcers for a year and a half.

May sound odd but I have what many call white coat syndrome. When I go for my yearly checkups at the local Veteran's Admin. my blood pressure is rather high. When not at such a facility my blood pressure is actually on the low side for my age.

I had most of those symptoms but if I did have shaking it blended in with my Tourettes, I was also not chilled but I was constantly out of breath and had cramps so I suppose it is different depending on the person.

Stress elevates blood pressure so even if your not consciously stressed it could be almost like muscle memory for your body to feel stressed

Yes i have medical PTSD. Too many doctors lying to me and gaslighting me unfortunately. I cant stand it. I could be dying and not want to go to the ER because they always dismiss me. I was collapsing and passing out and shaking and slurring my words and they told me "i just have a cold making me tired". No viral symptoms at all. I had rectus abdominis (the 6 pack muscles) completely torn off from my pelvis, couldnt walk up the stairs for 2 years at 16-18 and they told me it was all in my head and those injuries cant happen. Flew accross the country to get surgery. And many other times
