Anyone Seen These Tench In Uk Pet Shops

the title says it all really,

Ive seen many nateral and golden tench but have only just seen these red/silver tench (4th picture down on link) and have to have a couple, never seen them befor tho.

How common are they in the uk?

Doesn't say what they are hybrids between though...I've never seen them before down here, they certainly aren't for sale in my area. I would be very wary of some hybrids though, a lot of hybrid combinations between fish just result in very weak stock (like molly and guppy hybrids) which usually don't live very long, or their imune systems are poor and they become sick and die.

yeah i have seen them we can get them in my LFS but only in season west yorkshire

deffinately not a proper native must of been selective bred don't think it would of been hybrid but the immunity risks are still a high chance

Yes you are right they are bred origianally for ornamental display but are often put into local fisheries and from my LFS about 2" they are around £4

I work in a pet shop in west yorkshire and we sell a wide range of fish

Ive caught, nateral, golden and blue tench while fishing in fisheries but never even seen those ones befor.

Tropicman, This may sound odd but due to me never seeing then around here, as a last resort in the spring/summer. Do you think it would be possable to send them via courior like the koi farms do when sending small koi using the priverate companies they do?
I no it would be £20+ p&p for a £4 fish but i want then sooooooo much
im 95% sure the answer will be you cant do that, but its worth a try

Ye you are right we cannot do that because of the hastle as we are only a small shop but we can get them in all the time anyway if you really want them so if you are coming to yorkshire you could get in touch with me and i will be able to see if we can get some in for you? sorry

Thanks, I found a LFS that sells tiny golden tench, i think they would make a good substitute if i cant track down the red/silver ones.
I do alot of fishing and tench are one of my favourate species to watch and catch
