Anyone play airsoft here?

Santa has gone on strike because too many people are asking for too many things.
I am so tempted to tell my children the truth about that fat elf.

Dear Santa,

Seeing people go apeshit for the newest consoles this year has been the last straw for me. See, you aren't real, and as lovely and magical as the stories are, there are so many problematic issues with the whole concept of some anonymous man breaking into people's homes in the dead of night and giving some children poundland toys and some children 800 pounds worth of gaming equipment. Not to mention the fact that using the threat of surveillance to manipulate behaviour, would be viewed as child abuse in any other context.

All the baby's presents this year are from his mom and dad, and I have no intention of telling him anything about you. I'm sure he'll see your movies, I intend to tell him the truth should he ever ask.

Sincerely yours,
Someone from next year's naughty list ?

Let's please keep this airsoft discussion? ;)

@Flushable Pets, do you think me getting the SSG10 + Left hand Conversion Kit + Meshmask is a good move for me?

If it's what you want and will get the most use out of, then I don't see why not. That's a mean rifle and would no doubt serve you well. What would you use for optics?

For mesh mask, I assume that you mean just lower mask, correct? I wouldn't wear mesh goggles. Imagine a BB shattering. The shrapnel would go straight in your eyes. I'd feel more comfortable with quality full seal solid lenses.

Oh no, not mesh glasses. A lower meshmask like this: https://us.novritsch.com/product/meshmask/

And goggles I would go for these: https://us.novritsch.com/product/antifog-safety-goggles-large/ (low profile)

I think I would get a lot of use out of it, even if I was just target shooting. I would also want to start going to actual airsoft events, like on a real field.

As for optics, I would probably use this Simmons Pro 50:

Pretty nice scope and it holds zero really good.

For ammo, probably these 0.45g BioShot bbs

This is a lot of money to be spending on an airsoft rifle, but I really do think I would use it a ton.

Parents may find it a “waste” though. My dad said, and I quote, “You spend your money on useless stuff”. (He said that just today, because I wanted to buy more fish. :()

And so you should while you have the opportunity, though I sort of wish now that I had my parents take 80% of my pay off me to stick into savings rather than the 50% they did. Would of been good practice for being an adult.

You forgot shipping. ;)

You're 13, right? I'd let my kids play at that age. Full PPE, obviously.

@Fish4dawin Sniper is the most coveted position, I think. There is something inherently awesome about being decked out in a full ghillie suit with twigs shoved up your nose to complete the look and sneaking around like a teenager coming home at 3:00am. I definitely agree that spot and stalk would be more fun than the front lines blasting away.
The classic twigs up nose strategy, they never know what hits em.
I mean you're practically a tree at that point.

How does that help me with the whole, ‘Dad says’, “You spend your money on useless stuff”, when I’m going to buy fish? :(

It doesn't, if he doesn't let you tough break. You can try and convince him or, just buy the fish anyways and see what happens.
It only matters if it's useless to you, other than that it's just an opinion that you can either listen to or ignore. The way I see it is if you got the money and you think it's the best course of action, go through with it. You only stand to benefit, you either get something you like or learn an important life lesson.

You can use it as the arguement that while you are young and have no responsibilities you should be free to spend the money you have earned, after setting some aside.

Exactly, I earn every dollar I make, so I should get to spend it any way I want!

I see your point and I agree to an extent, however I am going to have to side with your old man on this one. He's trying to help you in the long run by teaching you money management, financial responsibility and patience. These are very important when you become an adult. Try and cut him some slack. He's trying to prepare you for adulthood. Parenting isn't always glamorous.

I know when I was a teenager, I never had a cent to my name because I spent it as fast as I earned it and often more. So I feel it's perfectly reasonable, for example, if you want a $300 rifle to save up $500. Then you still have something in the bank and are on your way to your next goal or have money to fall back on. We all like instant gratification, but it isn't always what's best for us long term.
