why do you need to be afraid to "speak your mind?"
i always did and always will, social norms mean nothing to me

if you're in the advanced version of a certain class, you'll never have problems will bullying unless you live in a particularly bad district

Awww, I know what you mean. Maybe if you remind yourself that whats important is doing well, you won't care as much what the other student students think of you?

As long as you speak your mind in a respectful way hopefully you won't have much of a problem? There are always mean kids though. When I went to school in 5th grade, there was this boy who was in line behind me (we had to walk in a designated line order) and he would kick me and step on me shoes, then growl and tell me to walk faster. He was pretty mean and got in a fistfight with another boy because the other boy wouldn't let him squash a butterfly our class raised.

I am going back to school starting the 23rd. Getting a cert in Medical Assisting/ Phebotomy. Never too old for a new career. My B.A. in biology should help some...well what I remember. Taking anatomy/physiology again...should be fun. No cadavers this time as all my classes are online except one lab that is core to the program. Best thing is it's full time for 1 year (3 semesters) the I will have my certificate and can go out and work. Lol, of course will still be working PT through school too.

I’m doing online courses, so I think it still counts as homeschooling? I was supposed to start last Monday, but we had trouble logging in to my account and setting up my lap top So now that I actually have school courses, I’m taking

Apologetics
Earth Science
English 10
Geometry
U.S History
Health and PE

and my elective (the options were very limited for online)

Christian Authors
Creative Writing (I think, that’s next semester)

Anyhow, what is Apologetics if you don't mind me asking?
Sounds too weird to be class about study of apologizing or something? Although nothing coming from USA would surprise me any more. There is that lol

Just be yourself. Trust in your beliefs. Those who believe in you are your friends for life. I loved my fish and was seen to be weird but 25 years later some of the people who I thought never liked me actually really respected who I was and what I was doing. Life throws curve balls at you all the time.

Apologetics is the study of why people are convinced of something, typically a scientific theory or religious doctrine. In OF's case, I'm guessing it's the study of evidences for the Christian faith. Not something taught in public schools for obvious reasons, but homeschool families have a lot more freedom to study such things.

When I was looking over the courses I was taking, I wasn't entirely sure what apologetics was either, so I did what I was supposed to last week (I am a week behind already, I had a lot of trouble logging in and downloading the right browser) and read the course description. My Apologetics course is exactly what WhistlingBadger said. According to the course syllabus, students will learn to analyze, critique, and construct arguments and discuss the importance of learning how to defend the things they believe, while learning how to reasonably think and make decisions about what they believe to be true or not . In my case the course is based on Christianity. It counts as my Bible course for the year (the online school is Christian based, so all students choose a Bible course, and all our courses are taught from a Christian perspective, where applicable)

Well, that's the way it's supposed to work, yeah. But there is definitely a social component to school, some of it valuable, some of it silly and/or harmful: Learning how to work with other people, function as part of society, find out that your clothes are out of style, learning what bands are OK to listen to, learning how to talk to the opposite sex, figuring out how to sound like you actually know what you're talking about in a class discussion, all that sort of thing. It's enough to make some of us feel awkward and/or anxious. Ideals vs. reality, my friend.
