i've always read that these fish are shoaling fish, and should be kept in groups

i have 3 of them, still small about 1.5" each in a 90 (US) gallon tank with 5 angelfish

when i first placed them into the tank they did hang out together, but after awhile, they started picking out territories and defending them

maybe i need more then 3 to have then shoal together???

anyone else here have a group of pictus cats? do they shoal, or do the same as mine?

I dont currently have any pictus cats but i have kept them for years before. Like most schooling Pimeloids they spread themselves out in a loose school sometimes a foot or more apart and will chase others from the school out of "their" small area. Adding a few more wouldnt hurt and it is in my experience that the more pictus cats you have the more active they become.

As CFC said they aren't a tight schooling fish like say tiger barbs....they will pick there own caves/areas and chase off other pictus...i found that the only time my 5 ever really swam together was at feeding....add a few more...you wont regret it :p

I have 1 pictus currently,

but now i have (literally) just bought 3 more, as some real nice ones came in my LFS..... truly great fish that as CFC said "loosly" shoal..... :)

Add a couple more if you can fit them...... they'll enjoy each others company.....

i had 2 but they fell ill to some sort of sickness and died.

when they were alive and doing ok they liked to play follow the leader.
