Ever since enrolling Beau in his puppy classes, I've been thinking about enrolling Foxy in agility classes. She's 6 yrs old, but is very quick/ready to please and wants to do our bidding. She takes off ready to go when paused and ok'd to proceed forward during our walks. (not a pull me over forward, just a hop in her giddy up). We think she's a sheltie/retriever mix. What do any of you w/agility knowledge think?

This is my Foxy girl:

I compete in agility with many of my dogs, its extremely good fun once you get into it..
Your gorgeous pup looks like she has some sort of collie in her, they are incredibly intelligent and also amazingly good at agility.
Agility is brilliant for keeping fit (both you and the dog ) and keeping the dog active and occupied as collies in particular need constant mental stimulation..
need any more info i'll be more than happy to help :)

Your dog is gorgeous
I think she would probably love agility looking at the pic of her belting around in the snow.
I don't yet compete in agility (and can't even join a club and start classes yet), but I'm starting a bit of training with my 7 month old Border Collie pup. So far we can do tunnels, a very flat A frame, a seesaw and open channel weaves (just about) and it's really fabulous for bonding and gaining a bid of extra respect with obedience-related commands.
I can only say find a local club and give it a go - it really is so much fun. My pup growls all the way round in excitement and she is most attentive (fixated and waiting for the next command) when we get the agility stuff out and she does training.

I know some clubs have an entry 'test' - not really anything too challenging - just to see how your dog will respond to the various bits of equipment and checking on obedience, so it's good to make sure you have a solid basis in basic obedience and that your dog will follow a treat readily (invaluable for weaves). Mind you, my pup is nothing amazing (yet :p) and I've already had numerous people comment that she would sail into a club and probably place in competitions already.

It's worth looking online for local agility clubs.
I don't know whether I will compete with Skye (but I probably will) but just the fun of training in agility and belting round the course together is worth joining the club for :)

I will be joining a club round my area (depending on where I am living) in March next year once my baby turns 1 :D
