So... I decided I don't like my tank because it doesn't have anubias on driftwood. So, I ordered both and it arrived this morning. I'm hoping to glue it to the wood and my husband is off to see if he can find the right super glue.

A couple of questions... can I glue the plant to wet driftwood? At the moment it is dry but I'd really like to be able to rinse it first... yes... so anxious to have it IN my tank rather than in a bucket! LOL Or am I stuck waiting and glueing it first and soaking it later?

The water will set the glue quickly so don't worry will still work. :)

I just dab the area I'm going to glue with a bit of kitchen towel to get the surface water off. Same on the plant and then glue.

The glue you want is cyanoacrylate superglue; the ingredients will be on the bottle or packaging somewhere. The cheap stuff (you can normally get three tubes for a £1 in the pound shops) is the best.

Boo, he has phoned to say he's on his way back with no appropriate super glue. I might have to tie it to the wood until I can find the right stuff.

Use a tie rap, they don't drop to bits like fishing line can.

^ Agreed.

Also, tying knots in wet black cotton or fishing line, with wet hands, and trying not to damage the plant. or leave gaps for your plecs/otos to get stuck in, or have the whole thing slide apart five minutes after you put it in the tank, makes you

Whoooo! Noticed a new hardware store opened up just down the road and popped in and they had the right glue. So, I have now managed to glue the plants to the wood... as well as drip an awful lot of the glue on my hands... hope that wears off soon, feels strange. HAHA

I have placed the plants in my tank for now.... can't wait until the next water change to move things around slightly... didn't want to disturb anything when I don't have the time to do a water change right away.

i find that super glue.. yes probably looks great compared to a tie.. but it'll leach chemicals into the water...

i my opinion i would just use a tie, but if u already went ahead and glued it then. nvm :)

Already done. We'll see how it goes, if anything ends up looking suspect then I will pull it out, trim it (as I didn't use a huge lot) and scrape it off and tie it.

Giving the old super glue a try this afternoon.

The glue worked suprisingly well on wet wood, but I was dissappointed to see that this spreading of the glue showed as a white smudge under water. It's not too bad, but one of those niggly things. Hopefully it will go when stuff grows on it or crud builds up or what ever?

Pure cyanoacrylate super glue is aquarium safe; even the salties use it, so it can't leach anything bad!

The white of split glue is annoying, but it does wear off in time. Thread is still better for moss though.

If you let it dry before putting it into the water you don't get as much white. I did have a bit of white but roots have mostly sprouted already and camouflaged mine.
