Goby or Blenny?

It sits on the bottome with red and white stripes (bands) which makes it look like a candy can.

A friend is giving me one of his', he had alot in his tank. Im not taking it yet, but hes not sure of the exact name.

One fin that travels the whole length of its body, or two seperate dorsal fins? First one is a blenny, second is a goby. If it has the two seperate fins, it's probably a red striped goby. There's some type of watchman goby that looks like a candycane too, but I can't remember what it's called.

And hey... now you know how to tell the difference between gobies and blennies :) The one that I can think that doesn't follow this rule is an engineer goby, who has a long straight fin like blennies do.

With that clue cow, I think I have found it..

it is a goby (two fins) which narrowed my search.
I looked for a red striped goby, it is not that.
Then I searched for watchman goby..

and..

ready?

its a Gorgeous Prawn Goby!

This is a pic I found, closest to it. The site didnt give much of info. tips?

Glad to have helped :)

Enjoy it man.... .gobies are awesome little fish. I just love that big frowny face of theirs ;)

they are adorable. I visited my goby again earlier today (probably another week or so before I take it home) and I named it Fido because it sits and 'watches' like a dog, lol
