Another One Of Them Is It A Blue Acara Or Green Terror Thread.

Think we need a poll unless minnnt is keeping track?

I'm not sure, i'd say blue acara as it looks nothing like the GTs i was looking at today in my LFS.

Don't bring me into it.

I would say blue acara just because of the lack of colour and spangles compared to juvi gt's at my lfs. Although they do have some wild caught acaras and they're stunning!

if thats the case explain this

I think that "orange-ish" band is due to lighting only. It's very faint and a very different hue to the orange on the dorsal fin.

Assuming that's a BA yeah ?

Hybrid?

Pointed face.. Rivulatus have pointed faces, pulcher are more rounded :)
Orange tipped fins Rivulatus have this, Pulcher RARELY do! :)
Eye/chin stripe... Pulcher characteristic... Rivulatus lack this usually
Vertical stripes... Pulcher have this when they're in a "normal" mood, Rivulatus only have them stressed

like i said in my first thread the fish needs another 6-8 weeks or so before it will become clear as to what it is,

However there are a number of new acara variants that show varying levels of orange on their tail fins

Andinoacara sp. Orinoco
A.Coeruleopunctatus
A.Biseriatus

the picture above which is of a A.Latifrons,

What did the LFS say it was?

Its a Green Terror its not even a debate, its obvious.

All baby GTs have rounded faces and i have owned and bred tons.

It has the remnants of the orange on the tail and the eye line is angled, wheras blue acaras is straight, the body pattern is that of a GT also.

My GT as a one inch wonder

I just had a crap camera at the time, but she was stunning. She was sold to me as a BA.

make sure to post a pic once it becomes more obvious, would love to see some red faces :D

my opinion is blue acara, but its hard to tell at that age

Who's faces would be red?

TBH OP they are very, very poor photos. However, I still stand by my opinion of GT.

Its fair to say anybody who thinks the fish is a blue Acara does not know what they are looking at.
