Newt tadpoles are the worse. Raised some Rough Skin Newt tadpoles and noticed that the other tadpoles ended up with bites out of their tails. Quite a bit different behavior between them and tree frog tads.

Newt tadpoles are the worse. Raised some Rough Skin Newt tadpoles and noticed that the other tadpoles ended up with bites out of their tails. Quite a bit different behavior between them and tree frog tads.

I find this varies by species. I work with both alpine newts and marbled newts. The alpine larva generally play nice, but the marbled larva must be separated by size class, or the smaller ones will be eaten.
