I don't think Belle was wrong about barking and I would have had a few choice words with that woman myself... I've never had problems with dogs that my families had, they were all pretty well trained and sociable. When I was a kid we had a golden (actually he was pretty red lol) retriever named Storm and we took him for walks on the trails in the woods with no leash, he never bugged other dogs or people or horses. Well, we were walking up from a swimming hole with Storm walking ahead of us, and we came around a bend of Mt. Laurel to find him standing stock still. Me and my brother stopped because he was so alert and we saw that there was a rottie standing there with no leash on either, and he wasn't looking that friendly towards me and my brother. We both looked at each other like 'oh $h!T', then the rottie charged us. Storm reared up, the rottie reared up, they started duking it out, the rotties owner came running yelling 'Killer, No!!' we're yelling at Storm, they finally seperated, we grabbed Storm and the guy grabbed 'Killer'. We were so mad because that guy knew what kind of dog he had, and it wasn't on a leash. I have nothing against rotties or anything but that particular dog wasn't playing, and he tried to get to me and my brother the whole time except Storm wouldn't move out of his way. I just don't understand why people have such a hard time controling their dogs, everytime I'm with a friend they let the dog just drag them along, I walk the same dog and I have them heeling in a matter of minutes. How hard is it to hold the leash back and actually tell the dog no? People just let their dogs run all over them, and then they wonder why things happen like that...
