Hello again, just had to respond to this post.....
Now I'm not in anyway saying I know why this fish is dead but I do get tired of everyone imediately assuming it's the lfs fault.
It is possible that the dead betta you saw was neglected. It is also possible that those bettas were from a new shipment and that one just didn't handle the stress, and since the employees have a lot of other animals to care for they may not have noticed right away. I'm not trying to make excuses for them just pointing out that there are other reasons for this to take place.
[/Petsmart stinks. Petsmart in my area is way worse than WalMart... in Petsmart they're absolutely tiny 8 oz cups.... ]
I have to admit that I hate those stupid little cups too. Unfortunately the we don't put them in there, that's how they are sent to us (which is better that how they are usaully imported into the US but nobody ever gripes about that). At least they don't usauly spend very long in them, it is rare that we have a betta for more that a week two at most. On a happier note all new Petsmart stores being built have betta barracks built into the main tank system so no more little cups at those stores at least.
[/Feel free I live in lake charles louisiana its the only petsmart around here. I don't think they'd listen to me anyways]
Sorry but you are wrong. While Wally world and a lot of other companies won't care about what you have to say Petsmart will. Try talking about your concerns to the that stores director (they may/or may not care) If that dosen't work then write or email coporate headquarters. They will care, and get on someone about fixing it.
I've worked for Petsmart for 6 years (at different stores in different states) and the fact that they do care about the animals in the stores is why I stay. I can also say it get really old, when people ALWAYS seem to assume that lfs and their employees don't care.
ok, must stop venting and go bottle feed 3 day old kittens
