What is or are, the most annoying thing/s about your tank setup. Mine personally is the time factor involved in maintanence etc. What other little things both in and outside your tank really gets on yer nerves. (This hobby is ment to be relaxing)

What bugs me at the minute is the lack of space and the lack of sockets.Ive those 4 way and 6 way adaptors hanging out of every plug -even bought me a 10 way in B&q the other day.Ive also a big 4ft tank sitting in its box because I m going to have to do some major shifting of tanks to make room for it .
Nothing in my tanks really annoys me except for recurring Ich in the livebearer tank .Crossed fingers, its been gone a month now. :

I agree with Weaver about the socket problem! My house is almost 100 yrs old and has a major lack of socket upstairs. It's not aided by the number of other electrical items in the house (we have 2 pcs, 3 different consols, tv, video, DVD, NTL box, plus numerous sets of fairy lights and Mathmos lamps everywhere!) (BTW we don't want any burglars thanks).

Didn't know you could get a 10 way though! How much did that cost you Weaver? Might stop hubby from dangerously daisy chaining adaptors! :X

Maintainence I don't mind as I only have 3 tanks at the mo and I find it quite relaxing.

Main thing bugging me is that I'm trying to be a successful aquarium gardner but just don't seem to have the required green fingers.

I think the thing that bugs my hubbie most about the fish (bearing in mind he does nothing but suggest unsuitable purchases for the tanks!) is the constant buzzing noises from the airtubes and filters. Should sit here and listen to the one in Dudley's tank going and he'd never complain about the others again!

EhhhhhhhhhhEhhhhhhEhhhhhhEhhhhchugchugchugEhhhhhhhhEhhhhhhhEhhhhhh.............and just when you think it's stopped....EEEEEHHHHHHHEHHHHHEHHHHHEEEEHHHHHH

Aargh.

What bugs me is just when you think you have everything running smoothly and havent had any problems for ages something major goes wrong (like a filter failing) and you end up doing water changes non stop for days to save your fish and pulling your hair out from stress :lo:

Mine is never being happy with my 'aquascaping'......I always set it up and then think......"maybe that would look better over there?"

The worst part is when I think a piece of wood would look better siliconed to a pice of slate, pointing up the way perhaps but the problem is Ive got java most growing on it so I can leave it out the water for 24 hours for silicon to dry without spraying the moss every hour or so.

Definatly never being happy with the tank though....maybe thats the artist in me, too self critical.

God! I can imagine how much hassle that would be on your monster tank! I think I'd make sure I definitely had some sort of spare just in case.

That seems to be something that all the planted guys suffer from. I've lost count of the number of times I've popped into the forum to find that someone's decided they're not happy with something and end up moving everything around.

Wonder if Mr Amano feels the same?
:D

It 'irks' me that my recently set up 20UK Gallon - that initially seemed absolutely 'massive' with plenty of room for plenty of fish - now seems to be getting smaller by the day! (shrinking tank syndrome?!)... 2 months on and with more knowledge, I'm now resigned to the fact that i'll be getting a larger tank within 6 months... I've already got 'another' smaller tank set up... I guess the never ending quest for a big enough tank to house all the fish you ideally want is typical of all 'fish keepers'...

This is 'M.T.S. or Multiple Tank Syndrome......the only cure is a sympathetic spouse and a larger tank!

B&Q and Wolworths both sell a plug that you can wire upto 4 appliances into it
this saves both sockets and the untidieness of all those wires.

therefor useing one of these on a double wall point you could have 8 things plugged in. (I would not recomend having 4 of these plugs(12 appliances) in a 4way trailing socket)

Yeah, but what happens if you need to unplug your lights to change a tube and don't want to unplug the filter? Also, how big a fuse must they need and are you in dangering of damaging all your equipment if it blows?

... or a sympathetic tank and a larger spouse?...

But surely that leaves less space for tanks?!

You also need a larger house and more spare cash. Therefore, sell the spouse and the house and move into your garage. You and your fish, that's all you need right?

Cost either £15 or £20.One of those surge protected jobbies.Im like your hubby with daisy chaining and had a 6 way with 2 double adaptors for use with the computer and the fry and betta tanks all coming from a single socket.Expensive but worth it--I think

 Its harder to get a big spouce to be sympathetic......my rule is, if your spouce cant sit comfortably in your tank then one of them needs to be upgraded heh heh heh

sod the larger spouse... and the larger tank... and the bigger house... I'm gonna grow gills and live 'with' the fisheees...

my only annoyence at the mo is when my fishless cycle goes wonky.

for some reason, two days ago it stopped processing the ammonia properly, dropping from 1pmm to 0.25ppm in those 48 hours (it was doing more than 5ppm in 24 hours the days before).

Seeing as this is as far into the hobby i have gotten, its not getting me anywhere.
