Angelfish Spawned

Thank you!
It was fun waiting to see which female the male would pick. He was so dominant in the tank that none of the other males even had a chance.

Still no swimmers but it should be happening soon!

They are 6 days old today and this is the 4th day they have been wigglers!

Here they are 6 days and 5 hours after being laid. The wigglers have spread out a bit more on the leaf and their yolk sacs are barely visible now.

For comparision, the TOP photo is from two days ago (Day 4)

(I used a few different exposure settings to have different details stick out with my camera on my phone.)

A mom's work is never done - she is being kept busy by trying to keep them together!

I have brackets holding a plastic kritter keeper to the side of the tank and I put about 1/3 of the spawn in there so I could try artificially raising and parent raising at the same time.

There is a cluster of fry UNDER the leaf now too...

10 days old, day 3 of free swimming. If I have been having die-offs then they must be very slight. I removed 1 dead fry this morning from the container/kritter keeper but the group in the main tank has not noticeably diminished in size and I have not been able to find any bodies on the substrate (of course the cories or parents could have eaten them).
They are being fed 3-4 times a day with Hikari First Bites.

Day 4 of free swimming...

Freaked out for all of 3 seconds this morning when I looked into the tank and did not see the usual "cloud" of fry....now it seems they have taken to spreading out a bit more around the tank and a handful seem to stay right at the waterline making them difficult to see.

aaw wow amazing really nice work there :)

Looking brilliant! :good:

Day 6 of freeswimming and I still have a decent amount. Some die off but not as bad as I was expecting considering I am not feeding BBS.

They are about 12 days old now....and I have been watching the parents cleaning leaves like crazy

I hope they don't lay again so soon! The first batch will pick off the second batch as an easy meal! Plus I enjoy the fact that I can have them living in peace with the parents right now (less tanks to maintain!)...the parent's aren't as possessive or protective of the first batch any longer. They will scoop up any stragglers they come across in the far corners and spit them out back towards the group, and they still stare me down when I come by to feed/water change.

THEY ARE LAYING EGGS!!!!

Are you kidding me?????

Here are the parent's laying eggs!!! Their current babies are on the left side just swimming about! You can see the marble female laying the eggs and the ghost male fertilizing them.

45 minutes later and maybe an hour or so after they began...now look at the leaf!
And they are still going at it!
