Angel Fish Lips

okay well i have noticed that my angelfish have been acting strange due to breeding i think, i have looked a couple times and have noticed that my female (i think) has been losing her lips, i looks like they have been bitten off or something, not a nice sight tbh. does anyone know what it is or how it keeps occuring ?

Yeah, angels will lock lips and they do this in aggression between nonpaired individuals and a paired couple will do it too. My paired angels do this from time to time but it never seems to get totally out of hand. I suppose if they are two non-paired angels they can get into more injurious fighting.

Only way to really "keep it from happening" would be to separate the angels.

I've seen that too. It usually starts to happen when they reach maturity. How long have you had them?
