I have a cold water marine tank.. And im keeping 1 big nem thats created offspring several times.
It won't die at this stage for some time but it will be under stress. They do this when the tides go out and are no longer under water so they dont lose out on moisture. The only reason a nem might curl up into a ball when submurged is that its not getting enough light or enough flow infront of it.
You dont really need to feed it all that often because of the organism's living within the creature.
Keep an eye on them at all times; they can get themselves into a tight spot, if this happens just move the rock they are on to a open space where light can get at it and its tenticles can move and grab at anything passing.
A nem will only die when the water conditions are very poor or gone without light for long periods of time.
