The number of people receiving disability benefits because of their drink and drug problems has risen by 250 per cent in the past decade, new figures reveal.
There are now 22,800 people getting the handouts – not for any disability, but because they are addicts.

At least they don't have to steal to get there drugs we just give them the money to buy them.

I'm proud to say I've never claimed a benefit in my life so I was never one of those statistics.

Maybe your point should be aimed more at the benefits system who hand out money for nothing. Most people will take "free money" for doing nothing.

I think its sad when people feel the need to slate the dead, if you dont like her or what she did, dnt bother writing in the post, its not like we are expecting you to go lay out flowers (or ciggarettes, joints and vodka like some others have! ).

Would just be nice to see a little bit more respect, if you want to have a debate about addiction and the use of drugs, feel free to set up a post, it is your right to!

That said, addiction or no, it usually stems from something, some very deep inner sadness, she was one unhappy girl and despite the fact that she had an amazing talent (personally couldnt stand her style or/of music though could appreciate she had an amazing voice!), she was still deeply unhappy.

She was obviously not happy, in the limelight, on stage, in her lovelife, with her friends.

I dont know, i just have to think its sad that she's gone and all anyone will remember her for is the drink and drugs when really, she was probably trying to use it to escape from something making her very unhappy.

We wont ever know what it was for sure, but its a shame she never got the right help at the right time. No doubt being tormented and slated by the press and public only made things worse...

Such a shame.
