The BE-Team Fighting For Betta Extermination
i've seen convict eggs on a flat surface (which was a flower pot).
What kind of a cross? I find it hard to believe personaly that the only reason a 'convict' layed eggs on a flat surface was that it was a hybrid. When convicts breed, both parents are involved - if you breed a convict to another species, won't they both need to have similar behaviour as they need to form a pair? If they have similar behaviour and yet the mixed offspring lay eggs on flat surfaces, it seems to follow that a convict will lay eggs on a flat surface also - since the parents (convict X whatever) must have done so themselves Am I making sense? Anyway, I'm pretty shure convicts will lay eggs anywhere they feel comfortable - they don't particularly care whether it's a pit in the sand or something entirely different. I've bred lots of them and they were equaly happy to breed in a bare-bottomed tank as in a tank filled with sand or gravel (or even marbles) and they were just normal black convicts.
EDIT - sylvia, u had marbles in a tank? how did that look?
i got a pair of convics from sam uk i havent had them that long they started guarding 1 corner in the tank then moving all gravel out then they started chasing other fish out i looked today there are some eggs there now they look similar to a bisguit crumbs but a little bit bigger .they are on the bottom of the tank and up the sides of the tank ,,,
cant wait to see what happens next im so excited ,,
thanks sam for the great fish .....
