I think you'll find people saying they're great and people saying they're not. Their products are all cheap and cheerful so from what I've seen of them it will reasonably well but the build quality can be suspect at times.

There are a few reports of people having problems but, to their credit APS have replaced parts and items fairly swiftly so that shouldn't be a problem although I'm not sure how that works where you are! I was lucky enough to be about 15 minutes from their UK base when I returned my powerhead so had no issues. (Just to add, I returned it because it was too big, not because it was faulty.

I personally would consider an APS filter but I might be more inclined to look to the more experienced brands second hand first. I got my current second hand Rena XP3 for £40 on ebay. (although it did need a new impeller)

Price-wise, the 1000lph U/V model is £62.99 in the UK which is about $98 US dollars so I think for the first time I've found something cheaper over here than over there! Canadian dollars I think are the same roughly.

You also have cheaper fire extinguishers :p

Well I don't think I'd have a problem if I had 3 of the same filter cause if one were to need repairs I could sub it out and continue using a hob filter on my 65 gal that way I'm without filtration.

But for the price of these I should buy four haha a fluval for my 65 gal would cost me almost 500$ Canadian

And fluval is all that's held locally for externals

I'd just like to say that I run APS filters on all my large tanks, and I'm very happy with them.

Yes, the build quality isn't of the highest, but they're fine as long as you're fairly gentle with the parts; wiggle them until they clip in, don't force them :)

I've found the top clips fairly durable; it's mostly the handles on the media baskets, but they're much improved on the newer APS models. The baskets themselves can sometimes be a bit 'sticky' to get in and out of the canister as well; I've run a bit of silicone grease around the outside of the baskets, which helps a lot.

Oh, and if you get one of the models with a UV light, you must fit the glass sleeve, even if you're not going to be using it and don't fit the bulb; you need the sleeve to direct the water, and they will leak if you don't fit it!

For what they cost I would say APS filters are good value, yes they dont produce very close to what they claim LPH wise but as long as you take this into account when matching to your tank you will be fine.

I have been running my APS1000 for almost 2 years, in that time I have had a leak from the motor head which was swiftly replaced under warranty by APS, apart from that the filter has been great, very good customer service IME.

I've heard this a few times about APS. My only comment would be that its all via email and they only seem to look at their emails at a certain point every day.

Might be worth getting one to make sure you're happy with it and then getting the rest? (Just a suggestion!

Let us know how you get on. It would be interesting to see how the product is out there and if there are any differences to the ones we get here.

Will do, I can't wait to make the purchase. I've spent more on my tank in the last month then I have on a car which is sad for me haha considering the engine in my last car was worth 65000$
