Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for my 33 gallon that is cycled and ready to go. Last post i had forgotten to take my old fish i had out, now however its empty with the exception of 3 platies.

I am thinking white sand, (that i can get from home depot i heard?) I have some lava rocks and am going to get some plants although not sure of the species yet.

I was wondering what larger community fish i could get, maybe gournami, that would show up nice on a 33 gallon.

any help would be great, thanks!

dwarf gourami are colourful
a small shoal of tetras
more platies,guppies or swordtails
corys
Most barbs(i love tiger barbs!!!)and you can have other none fish inhabitents such as snails, shrimp etc
female bettas
ummm cant think of much else.have you seen anything you like?

For what it's worth, white sand will dilute the colour of your fish. Black sand accentuates it. Brown sand remains neutral and looks natural.

It's hard to reccomend fish to someone for stocking, because everyone has different tastes.

It is hard to give ideas, because everyonehas their faveourites and dislikes.
I say a definately on a school of Cories, because I hated them at first, but they really are worth it, I'd keep them even if they didnt clean the bottom , now lol.
You said you liked Gouramis? I say go for a pair of Pearl Gouramis, very pretty, not too small, one of the hardier types(I've read)
Or a Dwarf Gourami or a trio of Honey Gourami?
You could have a pair of Angelfish maybe, but have to be careful with fish they could possibly eat lol,
Tetras, a nice school

Its all up to you really, I suggest you go to your fish store and browse around, take down a few names you like, ect. Research before you buy, its the best thing to avoid problems, lost money, and headaches lol.
As for plants, I'd talk to the people in the plants board here, I'm sure they'll tell you some pretty and easy plants, and how to care for them.

I started out with a pair of Angels and from there I picked what I liked. I would say 2 angles as a main atraction, 6-8 neons, black neons, or white clouds, NEVER get any kind of barb with angels, its a horrific thing to see your wonderful, flowing finned fish all shredded and not so pretty. Corries are always nice to have also. Maybe a few guppies if you want to fill the tank fast :)

what about this for an idea:

4-5 mollies
4 tiger barbs
8 neons
4 cories

is that ok?
