Many thanks.

Is it on any of the plants? hard to tell what it is from the pics, but it could be staghorn, i would "up" your CO2 levels anyway and double check your macro dosing particularily. Staghorn normally indicates a shortage of either CO2 or macros, once you correct that it will disappear, so double check everything, i would start with upping the level of CO2.

does upping co2 generally get rid of algae?are they intolerant of it or is it cos plants thrive on it, hence algae dies......

It's said that high CO2 levels inhibit the growth of algae spores. It does not necessarily kill off mature algae. Algae infested leaves need to be pruned until all algae is removed.

It also helps plants grow to their full potential, providing all other nutrient requirements have been met.

I've read that "overdosing" carbon, either through CO2 or Flourish Excel can help kill off algae due to it blocking enzyme production. Higher plants seem generally unaffected by this (some possible exceptions with Excel i.e. Egeria sp.) and the consequent non-carbon limited growth obviously helps win the battle.

I have checked the No3 and Po4 last night and they seamed high considering I have dose since Sunday. The No3 was just under 20 and the Po4 was just over 2. It maybe that my mixes are incorrect so I've made up new ones and I'll check after dosing. I have only been dosing twice a week, once with the water change and once mid week. And I've kept the levels lower than recommended because I have only 2.2 wpg, but as I have a lager biomass and it's all growing well I throught I would up the level. I have done this over the last couple of weeks which is possable when the algae started in ernist. So I think it's time I did the EI routine properly and settle things down.

Thanks for your help.
