Your best nailing down your Gh so either take a sample to your LFS for testing or you should be able to attain it online through your local water boards website.

The simplest is to look on your water company's website. You need a number rather than words, and the unit of measurement.

If you can't find it, tell us the name of the water company and we'll see if we can find the page.

Thanks, everyone, for your advice! I'll be taking a water sample to my LFS tomorrow AND I'm now the proud owner of a 145l tank! Your advice was what was needed to shift my husband into acquiescence! Currently soaking two big chunks of mopani wood in the bathtub
