a lot of people fail to see our place in the grand scheme of things, were not the most important things to have ever roamed the earth, there were others here before us and there will be others after us. and then you get into looking at our planet in the grand scheme of the universe.... the mind boggles!!

ginger ale and brandy you say, never tried that combo!!!

My little pennies worth
I've found this 'discussion' very interesting and I try to do my bit for global warming eg recycling and walking or using public transport when ever possible, only have my heating on when its freezing cold.
I love our british weather! Spring, autumn and winter but I really do hate summer when it gets tooo damn hot (luckily doesn't usually last long) Most people say 'Oh what a beautiful sunny day' at first but after a few days of heat I find that most people start to moan and wish it would become cooler. When the first drop of sweat starts to roll down my back i can feel myself getting p****d off and saying 'roll on winter' When you're cold you can soon get warm but when you're hot its difficult to cool down. Damn council gave us cavity wall insulation a few years ago and the house is always roasting in summer!! :grr:
Anyway my fishy friends seem to be ok up to now. Used the information off this site and increased airation and left the lid up. Thanks guys! :good:

yeah my fella hates it too, he's a builder so works outside, just kills him when it's like this
:/

OH i really feel for him!! Poor guy!! :/ My idea of hell is being out in the damn sun too long, my hubby doesn't mind it for short spells and we very often walk down different sides of the street, him in the sun and me in the shade!!!

some good points made.

i didn't intend to go off on one earlier, it's my own problem that i get annoyed with people who can't see sense in recycling and generally being cleaner and more effecient. each to their own.

yes global warming is inevatable, but we can slow it down. There are new oil rigs that can pump CO into the spaces where oil is being dredged out, as i've said, if we ALL recycled, that would considerably lengthen our lives on this planet. the amount of waste gasses emitted from our cars, planes, boats etc is horrific.

There is a lot, as a planet of people, that we can do to make sure that our next generation can see the world for what it is. I don't like the idea 'it was going to happen anyway', because to me that's a really small minded view, we have contributed emmensely to the destruction of this world, so why not try and reverse that?

iJay.. I'm not trying to pick fights with anyone, i was trying to prove my point that Air conditioning IS bad for the environment because of the amount of power it uses. And it's things like that we can cut down on, to help prevent global warming.

This whole subject is a very difficult one though.. Most people would love to do their bit to help, but why should they if no-one else is? I've heard a lot of people say 'I won't make a difference', but if you don't, then who will?

The only blow on America I was trying to get across, was that on average, they do emit the largest amount of green house gasses. And after speaking to only a few, admittably, they don't care either.
