Hi guys

I am doing a bit of research to find out the age ranges for tropical fishkeepers for a tutorial website I am developing for new fishkeepers (for tropical).

Please choose the relevant age range from above as accurately as possible :good:

Remember I want the age at which you started fishkeeping (tropical) rather than the age you are now :good:

Thanks!

i started this year at the age of 18 = ] I am also female and for some more interesting information I also have a phobia of large fish/underwater creatures. We'll see how the hobby goes based on that information lol

It would be interesting to compare the age people started keeping fish for themselves, rather than a family "pet" against the ages people are now.
I've been surprised that most of the people I've met in the hobby so far are adults in their 30-40-50s and not teens/20s.

I was 7 or 8 (I cant remember exactly it was a long time ago) when I had my first tropical tank in my bedroom, dad had one downstairs. I remember I had 2 golden angels, a pictus catfish, black mollies and a weatherloach. I had them till I started secondary school, I came home to find my tank gone and a desk in its place so I could do homework!!

I voted wrong by accident :blush:. I started at 8, not sure why I wanted fish so much. My dad kept a goldfish in a bathtub when he was a kid but I didn't know about that until after I started.

Before I got the tank I used to try and keep bugs collected in local streams in various water tubs in the garden, and made mini fish tank things out of yogurt pots, with random tiny garden plants and gravel, and cut out plastic mini fish :rolleyes:.

Well.... I just really got into the fish-keeping hobby *this* year, so I was 13 when I started, and I still, quite actually, *AM*. ^^;

LOLS -- When I was smaller, and me and my family lived in our old house, we had this little tiny plastic fish tank; we tried to keep either white cloud minnows or some kind of tetras (I can't remember LOL :blush: ), but they had no filters or anythings, I don't think; and we ended up killing most of them by accidentally throwing them out down the drain when cleaning out the tank's water.... I don't think that we had that tank for anything more than two months (maybe even less) LOL. ^^; :p
