After a long Search. I have found a Shark

There regulary in Gordon Riggs Garden Centre but the rochdale based one last time i was there i asked him when he gets them in and he said he always has them in as he has an exporter where ever they are from so he gets monthly shipments of them :)

How much are they Ryan,
If they are under a tenner each will you get me some and post them to me.

Here's a better pic of an adult M. asiaticus for anyone who's interested ;)

I was under the impression both traders and keepers required a license for this species, how do you go about getting one???

Thanks for that pic.

yep the retailer needs a licence, only a few places are allowed to keep them.
i am already sorted with my licence thru the pet licencing and animal welfare (made friends with those departments, and now spy on retailers for them)

i was worried you did not have a license to get them but, since you do i dont have to rain on ya parade, very nice indeed

Interesting,

As far as I was aware no individuals of this species have been legally imported into the UK, virtually since the legislation changes in 2006. Luckily I also have contacts at DEFRA so I'll be checking with them :good:

that red guy on top there is special. you dont get adult specimens of that color. how's the fish now gill? the high fins should be retracting already, well it has been years

I was under the impression this was a cold water fish thats why you need a licence so you cant release them into public water ways when they get MASSIVE

Are you sure that customer knew their stuff? I'm no expert on this but the adult pictures you and others posted doesnt really look like a Celocanth to me. I also think the 'controlled' growth sounds like stunting also.

hi guys, i don't have these any more, made the noob mistake of adding cons. and they killed them both, this thread is 4 years old.

i just dugg this thread up to show someone the pix i had of them.

Its not a real shark without the 5 part gills and huge teeth anyway :good:
