Hello everyone,

One of the gurus gave me an idea of having an african dwarf frog (perhaps 2). I have a 65ltr tank, would 2 be ok? My lfs doesn't stock these and I've tried couple of others including pets-at-home. Does anyone have an idea where I can purchase these from? I stay in swindon so preferably somewhere close :)

Any idea how big those bad boys get? I wanted something other than fish in my aquarium. I wanted crabs but was advised against it due to the Bristlenose Catfish I have, and I saw some frogs at Porton (which is a nice drive away from you) and they looked good, but I was told that they can get to a fairly big size :(

Martin :good:

ADF's don't get that big. Just make sure what you get is indeed an ADF and not an African Clawed Frog. Those get te be several inches and will eat anything their size or smaller.

yeah, ADF's don't get big, but African Clawed Frogs will, and they are sometmes mixed up... don't know where you can get ADF's , I know here in Canada you can get them a Pj's Pet Centre... but you can check online :)

pets at home do stock them sometimes, i got a couple from there the other day.

I have 2 in a 3g tank (11~ liters) so you could easily do 10 in a 65 liter

adf's have webbed front feet, clawed frogs dont, easy way to tell em apart

THIS SHOP sells them but I don't know if they ship out of town, may be worth ringing them to ask.

ADF's get no bigger than an inch.
Though I think I should warn you, some petshops will try and sell you 'Albino Dwarf Frogs'. They are NOT ADFs! They're ACFs, and will grow HUGE. Lol.
ADFs prefer completely still water, so if you have a filter, I don't reccomend them. Make sure you're not putting them in with overly aggressive fish, either. :) They prefer a temperature of 77 degrees, and no aquarium salt. They're beautiful little things, but make sure you give them a varied diet, or they could get bloat/dropsy. :) I'm not sure that liters is in gallons.. But they're extremely low waste producers (extremely) so I wouldn't worry about it. :)
Oh, also, they shed their skin fairly often.. it looks like fungus, but it isn't - And they'll eat it too. :) If you have a male and female together, they sing!
