Afraid For My Gouramis !

Im definately doing another round because 12 hours after I did a good water change and put some carbon in after the 1st round I saw redness coming back to the fins.

Ok, so todays readings are...............

pH: 8.0

ammonia: 2 ppm --still afraid that its way too high

nitrite: .25 ppm

nitrate: 10 ppm --dropping which I hope is a good sign

kH: 17.9

gH: 250.6

tank temp: .. I think my BRAND NEW thermometer is broken because I have my heater turned to 79F but it says its 85F in there..... and there is NO way its that hot because I would be able to feel it, and I see the heater turning on once in a while.

Is the tank near direct sunlight.
Higher room temp can make tank temp higher. Check room temp.

With the redness coming back I would use the full dose now.

I started runnig another full dose a few days ago, and room temp is not that high. Like I said I see my HEATER turning on but its set to 79F but the thermometer says 86F... Im going to another store today to but another one.

Ok.
Let me know how you get on.
Good Luck.

thanks, ok so when I got back from the store I stuck the other thermometer in my tank. ( They are both the glass type that you suction on the inside glass) Checked two hours later and it says the same thing, says its 86F when the heater is set to 79F !!! So the heaters dial is wrong :shout: .. Its a HYDOR THEO and I cannot return because I got it a while ago, so I just adjusted the temp to 72F on the heater and now both thermometers are sitting at 79F!! SUCKS that I cant move the dial around so it will display the right temp. :(

AND.. the redness is back on both gouramis, NOT full blown red, just a little redness at the base of both pectoral fins.... :( ....and I was hoping that they were getting better!!! Guess I will see in a few days.

How are the fish today?

All of the fish seem to be doing GREAT!!! Today is last day of treatment, im just going to finish it up then do a nice water change and insert some carbon. :hyper: THANK YOU Wilder and Tolak for all the help..., without you I would have NO CLUE and probably would of lost my fish...after a few days with no meds I will post back if anything returned but I doubt it...again THANK YOU :D

DONE ... and my fish are doing GREAT!!!!!!!! seems all problems have been solved... AWESOME

That's good news.
Still keep a close eye on them.
