I noticed today my tank has whitespot. I have several apple snails in there. Before I treat I guess I'm gonna have to take my snails out but where can I put them to keep them safe and alive?

I have two small planted tanks. I could pop them in there but will they eat all the plants?

My second option is a bucket of water that I could cover. But it will have no heater.

Any advice would be appreciated.

in my experience, apple snails do not eat healthy plants. They only appear to nibble on rotting/dying leaves.

apple snails dont eat plants, they may nibble the odd leaf, but they prefer soft veg, algae to plants, well im asuming they are brigs, the smaller ones that get golfball size, not the canas, which grow much larger di

Would taking them and placing them in my other tanks spread the infection to my other tanks though? I also have a frog. He's gonna have to go in one of the other tanks but won't this spread the whitespot?

Thanks so it's safe to move them to another tank without anything spreading? I'm ok about treating the whitespot as my sisters tank had the same after she bought some fish at pets at home and we cleared it up. My worry is just the frog and snails.

frogs and snails can't carry whitespot to another tank; just try and move them wth as little water from the affected tank as you can :good:

yep :good: be careful what you use to clear the whitespot some meds kill off benifical bacteria and you tank will have to recycle your tank, what i would do is remove the sponge from the filter and place this inside the other tank to keep the bacteria alive, place a new sponge or an old one in the filter and dose with meds, run a carbon sponge to remove all meds and replace the active sponge which may have reduced bacterial level but least it will recover quick. I never run any meds with my mature media in, otherwise its a case of recycling all over again, esp if you have something delicate. di

I love you guys thanks so much for your advice. I'll get cracking taking them out now.
