Hi

my brother has a 60 litre which contains 2 peppered cories, 4 guppies, 4 mountain minnows and a common plec.

I have already told him to rehome the plec, which he is trying to do. (anyone in the Whitby, N Yorks area who wants one??)

I know he needs at least 3 more cories. I guess he needs some more mountain minnows to keep them happy as a group - how many?

I am going to take him a kribensis once the plec is gone.

What else will he then be able to fit in? Anything? A few more guppies? I am imagining he will end up with - 1 krib, 5 cories, maybe 8-10 mountain minnows, and maybe 6 guppies. What do you all think? Needs to be easy fish to look after and to find locally, he is not too experienced and his LFS are not great :S

I'd leave out the krib and rehome the 6 guppies.... It could work maybe with the guppies if you had over filtration, but if your going by the 1 inch rule.... you far over stocked that tank with the list you gave.

But, with the cories and the minnows, should be a fab tank, even though that in itself is a bit overstocked (make up for it by buying an oversized filter)

Ox :good:

OK, I'll tell him to overfilter, and get some more cories, and a couple more minnows? And try to rehome the guppies - I might take them off his hands actually! Needs to rehome the plec ASAP though, and i don't have space for him!

I've got a 65 with 2 cories (only two out of 6 that survived) and they quite happily run amok together in the evenings. WCCM's like groups of 6 I believe.

If you overfilter (Fluval 3 size or above) then I reckon once the plecs been rehomed you'd get away with a pair of Rams - personally I've got German Blues in there. I'm not a fan of Kribs in all honesty.
