A friend of mine recently gave me some of her baby platys, I'm hoping to get an african dwarf frog in a few weeks, but I'm concerned the frog may eat them! It could just be me being silly but I wonder if they're too small. They're a few months old.

Some pictures for an idea of size.

I'm also wondering if I should get two african frogs? But I'm not sure if my tank is big enough to keep them comfortable - a post I read on this forum said that they were social and recommended no more than 3 in a frog only 5gallon tank. My tank is 4 gallons with 3 neon tetras, 3 platys and possibly a siamese fighting fish :)

ADFs are pretty slow on the draw, so you won't ave any problems.

With the live plants, your bioload will be fine. Espescially if you plant it some more.

I wouldn't add the betta unless you are taking fish out of the tank first.
a) The tetras are prone to harassing bettas, espescially when they are not kept in a proper school (Group of 6 or more)
b) The platys resemble a betta too much. The betta will fight them.
c) The betta will tip your bioload over.

However, if you decide to move the platies and neons out to, say, a bigger tank, I hear bettas get along famously with ADFs :)

Thank you kelly - that was really helpful!

Do you think it would be better/is there even room for two ADF? I only ask because I don't want one to be lonely! :(
