noob question:
Say in a few months, years, whatever, I want to add more live rock to my already established tank. I know I should buy already cured rock, but isn't there bound ot be die-off during shipping? How would I introduce it to my tank with out causing a spike and losing what fish/other critters that I already have?

PS: these posts are GREAT, and I've learned so much reading them. Bravo to whoever thought of starting this!

How long will the rock be out of water for ??

Not sure on how things work when you order live rock from somewhere (I've always bought mine from an LFS) but you could put it in another tank/tub with some powerheads until the live rock cycled. Then once this was done you could add it to your tank no worries.

Agreed, put it in a bucket of SW and let it cycle on its own before you introduce it in a tank. put in a powerhead as mentioned and dont forget the heater :)
