Accidental spawning!

Aren't they are fun to watch! I always watching them getting big, worried about they don't eat enough, worried so much this and that, and it is so cool to see them turn into a swan at the end. That is why we are the breeder of life. :) Very different from farm breeders. LOL :D

coming on nice joby must be the microworms... i wouldnt worrie just yet about another two week and then you will be able to start telling the males and the one for the son tank...... :kana: and then its time to start seperating them then you have twenty containers to keep clean hehe........

Aren't breeding is not fun when you have to change water in the jar everytime? Not one but 20 or more? Actually if you count the adults, you will be in sweat! LOL If you have the patient and love to do all the slave jobs, then it is right for you. hehehe
Now I understand why breeding good bettas are selling higher price than petstore. A LOT OF WORK!!! GUY! When you breed, you will know and understanding why beautiful betta cost so much. Actually it is not many at all because the outcome only less than 10% are the best betta. Some even zero in a batch. All have to culling them or feed the other big fish.
Actually it is a very demanding job. I think we have to make another post about the reality if anyone wants become a betta breeder. :) I think it is a good topics to discuss. :p
What do you guys think?

yes ups and downs of breeding.............there is the title........if its not been used in the past somewhere..........

Well I am about to find out soon. What I am not sure is if this a good idea or a bad one.

Yes, its hard work to keep the live cultures going and bbs hatchery then changing the water daily etc. I have 4 jars saved already and also have 2 breeding traps so I'd better get eating tons of Dolmio spag bol

Bettaman I still have your original MW culture going :) I just used a tip that Wuv uses and when its going low I just put the bread and yeast mixture back in and it goes nuts again

So I don't need to worry about the guys that are sitting on the plants and dropping to the bottom? must be all the yummy food they are eating they have such big bellies that they can't swim

My son is looking forward to choosing his betta and checks every day to see if the colour is coming in

Can't believe they are 4 weeks old already and grown so much in that time. Most of the remaining 20 fry have a blue sparkly hue to them but I have noticed over the last few days that some are getting a rose pink in their caudal and anal fins. Some also have a stripe of it washing over their body. There are two at least that appear to have no colour at all and remain very light. I have taken a few photos but its hard to capture the colours really.

I have attempted to try frozen foods for one meal now as my BBS hatchery failed for the first time today :/ but I'd been reading up and found that it was around this time to try and gradually switch them over to other foods. I thawed some artemia and they had so much fun ripping them to pieces! They loved it! So perhaps I'll give them BBS on alternate days and try frozen foods on the others. Maybe bloodworm next time :p

There are more and more face-offs in the tank now too as their pesonalities come through. Hopefully I won't need to jar them for a couple more weeks yet though. I have set up my identical tank to the one they are in and will probably split the spawn to give them some more room for a while as I really don't think they will manage too well in the tank I had ready for growing out in. Its got a fluval 3 filter in there and its got gravel in so I reckon they aren't ready for it yet. Maybe when they are taking different foods readily they will go in there.

If there's anything else I need to think about at this stage please let me know :)

Lookin' good, Joby! What a good betta grandma you are. Think you'll breed bettas again? (on purpose, I mean... :p )

Thanks Caroline :)

You are more than welcome to some if you like but I have issues with my female community :/ just had to separate them all tonight as things were getting very volatile and fins were being trashed!

Sorry to hear about your fry Infant340 :( I can't imagine losing them after so long. Good luck with your spawn

Thanks Cation :) You know I'm coming round to the idea of trying my evil MG girly Dijon with the same male as he's my only one at the moment. Need to raise this spawn first though to make sure I can grow them to adulthood properly and also need the tank empty
