Fish Crazy
I know most of us has had similar experiences, I was just so horrified yesterday, that I had to share -
So I was actually out with my 3 year old daughter, and 6 month old son to get pics taken of them, and as a reward to my daughter for behaving, we stopped at one of the three lps' near us. This one is more of a fish store, with some other creatures thrown in for no apparent reason, since I think they would do much better expanding their fish section a little more, and providing more space for aquarium setups and accessories.
But anyway, back to my original point. The fish section has narrow aisles, and seemed a little busy, hence why I brought none of my findings to shopkeeper.
I saw SO many sick fish that were laying listlessly on the bottom of their tanks. The betta section was FILLED with dead and almost dead bettas in those tiny bowls with about half a cup of water. Then there was one tank that made me really upset, right now, I can't remember if it was one of the marine or freshwater tanks because there were sick fish in both sections (proving that salt doesn't prevent illness, right?), but it was a tank with three big fish in it. They could have been gorgeous fish, but all three were ill! One had med-advanced finrot, another had beginning-med finrot, and the third, I couldn't pinpoint what was wrong with it, but it was the kind of thing were you just knew from observing it that there was something wrong with it.
There was one fish that shook me up, I've never seen this before, but there was a humongous albino fish - it looked kind of goldfishy, but I'm far from being a fish expert - it was missing it's left eye. It made me do a double take. I suppose that this can happen in fish fights. It didn't look like a new injury.
The only redeeming quality of this fish store was that it stocked glofish - and I think they look much more impressive and pretty in the flesh than in online pics. I went to bed imagining how impressive it would look if they woulf school together by color, and you put a school each of at least two of the different colors, a school of albino cories (substrate of black sand), and one or two solid black angelfish (I don't even know if angelfish go with danios, but the thought of the different colors and body shapes was too seductive to let go of ). Anyway, at 12.99 ea, I will not be buying any glofish any time soon, but I can still dream. B)
Unlikely that I will be buying anything living from them!
