So earlier on I was bagging all my fish up ready to move my tank to the girlfriends house half way there CRACK bottom on the tank only smashed, water pouring all over car because Ieft a little on the tank so in anger I just picked it up a lobbed it in a field luckily a family member has a big tank so my fish are safe all in all not a bad night

I feel sorry for the owner of the field finding broken glass in it, hope there was no livestock in the field & no wildlife gets hurt by the broken glass.

Sounds like you tried to move the tank while it had water and possibly substrate in the tank?
 
Sorry its happened though, annoying but luckily you had access to another tank for your fish.

when I say field I ment aload of area at side of a main road not someones land
its because in the back of the car the middle seat was cup holders so I eas holding one end trying to take the pressure away from the middle but that didnt work obviously haha

Its the fact you said water is pouring everywhere suggests that there was water in the tank when you moved it, was there also gravel/sand in it as well?
 
That would explain more about the tank breaking due to pressure weight from the substrate and water.

there was sand in and about not much water about 5 liters but thats enough to wet the backs seats

It wast the substrate or minimal water that caused the crack, it was not being supported properly that caused it. I have been moving tanks with substrat,e minmal water and plants in place for years and never lost one. However, I have cracked a couple of tanks because they were not supported right.

Sorry to hear about your tank. Please don't litter by leaving rubbish on the side of the road, including broken glass.

Perhaps a blanket under the tank may have been a good idea?
And I agree, dumping rubbish is the same as fly-tipping which I can't stand.

its not the fact I smashed my fank whats annoying its that am coming up to finishing college and haven't got a job so I wont be able to get a fish tank untill I get a job which is a pain in the ass

Most likely someone has picked up the tank by now. I had a broken tank, my hubby put it in the alleyway behind our house, came in to go to the loo and get his keys so he could load it in the car and take it to the tip. By the time he walked round the front and up the alleyway someone had nicked it!!! yet I have a perfectly good tank the same size advertised free to collector and no one wants it???
